Home at Last!

Finally after 20plus years in the UK im back on home soil and it feels GREAT! Here in Hamilton New Zealand, the people are soooo friendly and the weather is perfect. I think we will all be happy here and that includes Mr Chew Chew (my pug) and Angus (big black cat).
So for now we are cooped up in a motel driving each other nuts! We will hopefully have the keys to our new home in 3 weeks and SO cannot wait! Should be about that time our ship arrives with our entire life on board...an.oh GOODIE i will at last have my own studio/sewing room!
Today I dragged my daughter Madeleine to the huge Craft and Quilt Fair at Claudelands Event Centre. Wow its a great space and I have a feeling Ill be back soon to see (squeal!) Cesar Millan (come on, hes wonderful!) So anyway i bought a load of stuff i dont need and cant do much with but it FELT GOOD! Oh I saw my sewing machine there and also my Vagabond Machine...(I may have mentioned I HAVE ONE OF THOSE... to anyone that would listen..)
I gotta say I have never had so much empty time on my hands and have had my nails done and been to the hairdresser, but nothing will fill my crafting void!!

Victorian Antique Dolls Story Blocks

I have just gone crazy making these blocks!! I love playing with them, and really enjoy making them, very addictive... Well the clock wont stop (tick tock tick tock..) time flys etc etc and I do have dolls to make...If i can remember how lol!! it feels like ages.!! I am so aware of my limited time left here to get all my projects done and I also have gained so many brillant customers i will be sad to leave them...Here are some pics of my new blocks, this lots ready to go, I have slightly put up the price due to my purchases cost going up so its gotta balance out! How cute are these dolls faces???!!!!

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to all my customers whilst Ive been here in the UK. I am moving back home to New Zealand in August after my extended visit! I have taken some old childrens wooden blocks and sanded them down then decoupaged these beautiful vintage Alice in Wonderland images. They have been stained and I have given them lots of coats of varnish. These measure 1.75 inches and are great displayed next to your dolls or bears.

This beautiful set of 3 christmas themed wooden blocks have 18 different charming vintage images which i have decoupaged and have several coats of varnish. I have taken the hard edges of these birch blocks so they have a nice antique 'played with' feel to them and they have a lovely walnut stain to futher age them. They really are so lovely and look so nice displayed next to your dolls or bears.
These blocks are 2" square.

Spooky 'n Cute Primitive Folk Art Dolls Witch Raggedy Anne Ghost and Scarecrow

I have made a set of dolls designed by the talented Brenda Sanker of the Vintage Polka Dot.
This set of four consists of:
Scarecrow

He is GORGEOUS!! Made from osnaburg. Painted eyes, stitched mouth, woollen stitched nose, homespun shirt and cotton bandana, woollen pants with turnups. Two large rusty bells on his shirt. Machine sculpted hands and painted on boots with stitched laces. Painted canvas hat with rusty pin and bell...Phew!! Loads of work gone into him.
Witch

Witch is made from osnaburg. Her hat is black pure wool topped of with a rusty bell. Her beautiful long hair is flax which ive needle felted to her head. I have needle sculpted her nose and her eyes are painted. Her mouth is black embroidered. She has a lovely dress with the bodice made of orange checked homespun and her skirt attached is a charming halloween print. She has 3 bells attached to her bodice. Under her skirt she has on a pair of bloomers made in a sweet tan star print. Her shoes are painted on with stitched laces. Again she is a very detailed doll.

Annie

Sweet Annie is made from osnaburg and has been stained. She has stitched on embroidery threads tied to her head. Her facial features are entirely stitched with embroidery threads. She has a blush to her checks using artist chalks. Her dress is a mustard check and cat and star print, with a vintage orange tinsel trim and button. Under her skirt are her red checked bloomers. Painted on shoes.

Ghost

Ghost is made from osnaburg which has been painted white and sanded down. She has flax hair and her facial features are stitched on using emboidery thread. Her gown is made from white cotton and cheesecloth, which has been stained with my coffee prim mix. I made her a necklace from jute string and rusty bells and a metal rimmed tag. Her stockings are painted on. I would like to ask for £25 each, travel will be £3.50 each.

I have used a stencil to make this candle mat..or you could frame it...I have left the edges unfinished for the prim look. I have used high quality acrylic folk art paints and have sealed with protective varnish. It is a charming design advertising 'Hag's Breath' coffee....where can i buy that?!!

Two whimsical bunnys caught mid bound! The little guy is safely strapped on to learn the ropes!!

This is one of my favourites. I love the expressions on their faces. They have both been painted stained and grunged up good! Their noses are needle sculpted and they have button eyes and a stitched mouth.Their tails are needle felted wool roving. I have embellished with rusty wire, rusty bell, metal tag and stained calico collar. They measure 17 " across and 11" tall. They look so cool hanging on the wall and are a great addition to a primitives collection.

Beautiful Rabbit bust made from Osnaburg attached to grapevine wreath. Measures 13 " across and 21" length. Rabbits face is hand painted and stained then sealed. His ears are wired and posable. His nose and cheeks are needle felted wool roving and he has flax whiskers. He has a homespun frilled collar.
There is loads of fragrant sweet annie and also 3 big carrots attached with rusty wire.
He is really lovely and so sweet for all year round...not just a easter bunny!
He is up for offer at £25 and travel will be £5.50.

I am back! I have shaken off the jetlag and got back into the swing of things. I simply threw the suitcases into one room and shut the door! Unpacking can wait..
I have been working on some GREAT patterns by Ravens Haven and just need to kindly ask my dear friend to take some more of her wonderful pics for me. Robyns photos have already got interest as I have been asked to sell prints of my dolls which she has taken. Kudos to you Robbie!
So look out for some wee witches, homestead horses and bunnies...
I am also currently working on a custom order for a Veenas Mercantile pattern, Harriet Hare. My customer has some fabric of her own she is sending me to dress her in...I cant wait to see it! Harriet is ready for her dressing.
I cant say how much ive missed my sewing, I actually came in the door and kissed my sewing machine.!

I have had a great 2 weeks holiday here in NZ but its time to get back to work. I have been inspired by some great kiwi doll artists and enjoyed seeing the variety of talent. Clown Pumkin for babys nursery!

Karen at Olde Cottage Primitives asked me to make her a Jester for her Gathering Room. I was very pleased to make one in the colours she requested.

I made a Vintage Ted for another customer, I have recently bought some felting needles and used them on his stuffing. Just wondered why I havent bought these sooner, I love felting!

Look what I got from the charity shop! Couldnt believe my eyes, its just what ive always wanted and for an amazing £20. Love poking round junk shops....

There has been such a strong scent of rapeseed in the air, it grows everywhere around here. Thats my house, I have such a beautiful view.

Re Stranded Boyfriend

I think hes actually coming home! Taking the scenic route you could say...amsterdam to paris to calais to dover to london then train to abdn. And funny it only takes 1 and a half hours on a plane normally. Well at lest hes coming, I hope other stranded folk have managed to put a plan together.
Sitting here twiddling my thumbs, desperate for my needful things to arrive but ild be as well putting that out of my head for now. Have to start a new project i guess.

Oh I dont believe this country, 3 days ago i was lying outside enjoying the spring sun, looking forward to long summer days, and now its snowing.
My boyfriends 3 nite conference in Amsterdam has trapped him there! It doesnt look like hes ever getting home, damn that volcano and while im at it, damn this weather.
So I was feeling a bit low so i took myself into town and had a good spend (that always helps). Im gonna listen to some nice chilled out music and check on my fellow bloggers to cheer me up! (and maybe a glass of vino)

Or as it was yesterday 7am to 11am only stopping to walk the dog and be some kind of a mum to the kids. When im in zone i cant stop! I have 2 orders in for a Santa! and Jester Pumpkin. I aim to please so im cracking on. This volcano cloud had stopped my boyfriend from coming back from Holland, so I can make the most of today. Mr Chew Chews keeping me company!

Im expecting some goodies from the states and i cannot WAIT! All the best needful things are in the good ole USA and I definately am planning to come and visit soon with a big empty suitcase!
Just finished off these 2 repro dolls. I just lurve Kim Kohlers designs, i really find them hard to resist. Now im free to start something else. I tend to do 2 or 3 at a time. Watch this space!!
